Su Shuhui: Carbon finance innovation helps the development of industrial chain

Our report (Reporter: Tang Qinbin) The 9th International Clean Energy Forum and Zero Carbon Island Forum opened in Hengqin on the 18th. Su Shuhui, President of the International Clean Energy Forum (Macau), said during an interview that the forum is based on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin to help achieve sustainable energy development, promote innovative carbon finance technology, and take this as a high degree of integration of green environmental protection and technology industries and achieve common and coordinated development of the entire industrial chain. This is also the future direction of the conference, as the development of energy tends to be digital, green, and low carbon in the future. In terms of the history of energy development in the past, energy has gradually transitioned from coal to petrochemical energy to green energy. He also pointed out that China has lagged behind in the past two energy revolutions, but China’s green and low-carbon development has been able to keep pace with the international community in the new era of energy revolution, and even some energy sources have achieved a far leading position.

“The forum was held in Hengqin, representing another innovative attempt to deepen cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.” Su Shuhui believes that in the context of rigid growth in energy consumption, promoting the establishment of a green, low-carbon, safe, efficient, and intelligent modern energy system in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, as well as promoting regional cooperation in energy among the three regions of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, will be the main direction and key to the low-carbon coordinated development of urban agglomerations in the Greater Bay Area. Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin should develop new industries that promote the moderate diversification of Macau’s economy to provide the most ideal venue for creating a zero carbon island in Hengqin. The forum has a 10-year development foundation since it was held. It is hoped to take this opportunity as a carrier to communicate relevant new energy opinions and suggestions to the world.

According to Su Shuhui, “The development of international new energy is not just a matter of one country, but must be co operated by multiple countries. We advocate multi country cooperation to ensure the sustainable development of new energy.” In developing low-carbon projects, carbon finance is a major trend in the industry. At this forum, the Zero Carbon Institute (Macau Millennium College) was also signed. It is believed that the establishment of the College in the future can provide talents for the development of the clean energy industry, which has far-reaching significance in scientific and technological innovation, technology transfer, finance, etc., and also provides a new development direction for Macau’s economic diversification. The Zero Carbon College is still in the planning stage, mainly cultivating education in zero carbon finance. (Editor in charge: Wu Congzhou)
